What is The ‘Vegan Avocado’ blog about?
How did it start?
Until exactly two months from, now I was a hard-core vegetarian and now I’ve happily shifted to consuming only Plant-based foods only after exploring the depths of it. After going through research papers and completing an introductory certificate course on nutrition, I learned about the nutritional values in each type of food & how much does our body needs. I further explored veganism and that was the start of my journey as a vegan.
I’m quite active on social media and post a lot of content from my personal handle, I also handle a food blog and a photography blog on Facebook & Instagram both. One day I had posted a story about veganism on my private Instagram account to which one of my friend
In this blog, I’ll talk more about how & what inspired me to start writing a blog. I’ll talk about how was my experience as a vegan has been regarding many things like planning my nutritious meals, explaining veganism to my family members, and dealing with society in another blog.
So basically since the last year’s lockdown, I’ve been working towards developing my passion for reading. And from this year I’ve started writing down small articles on meaningful topics in my own words from my perspective which helps me understand the topic even better. More than that this had been acting as my coping mechanism to deal with all the ongoing stressful situations.
When the second wave of covid hit and another lockdown was announced I almost lost all of my patience and resistance to keep up with reading and writing. Just like many of you I too had post-lockdown plans which got canceled but then I gave myself time to analyze and digest the situation & took enough rest which helped me think better and helped me acknowledge all the privilege I had. After some days of struggling with those restless emotions, I started to open up and discussed my feelings and experiences with some of my close friends, we talked about relatable or common topics and we had some great conversations. This created a positive reflex & my friends came in as a savior who filled me up with more positive energy.
As I continue to read even more my perspective towards overall life is drastically changing positively. Reading helps me in getting more aware by showing truths and facts of life. Reading the work of historians, philosophists, psychologists, thinkers, government and private associations, news articles, various artists has helped me a lot in broadening my thought process. Reading has helped me in reminding me to keep the focus on many simple but important things in day-to-day life and overall life in general like focusing on my mental health, speaking up for myself, focusing on what I consume be it food or content. I’ve observed many people ignoring and coverup ongoing unethical practices by masking them with personal choices, societal pressure, traditions, rituals, culture, religion, and many more things which occupy the space for personal or societal growth and lead to stagnancy. I took this lockdown as an opportunity to look & dive into more new interesting topics. Personally reading about various things has helped me in clearing some of my previous myths, misconceptions & illusions I had about my own life and helped me in giving a more clear picture of the future.
I’ve been watching documentaries, crash courses, ted talks, reading various books, studies, articles & blog posts on topics such as socio-political issues, environmental issues, psychology & mental health, healthy diet lifestyle, nutrition, and many other things. I’ve been sharing my perspective and information with a limited group on my private social media account. One of my friends suggested I should spread the information on a better platform and in a more detailed way. And from here the journey of researching & writing got a boost. This gave me a new direction and I finally decided to share my experiences, perspectives, recommendations, suggestions via writing blogs.
The name ‘Vegan Avocado’ randomly struck me while reading an article on ‘superfoods’ and avocado is also considered one. Avocado is one of the superfoods widely famous for its well-known nutrition-packed health benefits. I’ll write about avocado and superfoods in another blog post.
. The ‘Vegan Avocado’ blog will cover almost everything about veganism. I will use this blog to talk more about the health benefits of a plant-based diet, my personal views, thoughts & experiences, the myths, controversies, stories & research related to veganism, and many more aspects.
